Diabetes affects approximately 463 million people worldwide as of 2019, and its numbers have only been increasing in recent years. In fact, it’s one of the top 10 leading causes of death globally. Studies suggest that if we do not take “urgent and sufficient actions” to combat the disease now, the number of people with diabetes worldwide is likely to increase to 578 million by 2030 and 700 million by 2045.
We view type 2 diabetes as protective mechanism of our body against exposure to excess calories and waste products of fatty tissue. That is why the key factors in treating diabetes are diet and reducing the amount of adipose tissue in the body. We do not treat high blood sugar level but we are trying to remove the cause of the disease. And yes, in most cases diabetes is treatable. Your choice is in your hands!

The CDC recommends you start with a 9-inch dinner plate:
• Fill half with non-starchy vegetables, such as salad, green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage or carrots.
• Fill one quarter with a lean protein, such as chicken, turkey, beans, tofu, or eggs.
• Fill a quarter with a grain or starchy food, such as potatoes, rice, or pasta (or skip the starch altogether and double up on non-starchy veggies).
Obesity has a major impact on cancer. The proportion of cancers attributable to obesity is increasing so much that obesity is now overtaking tobacco as the leading preventable cause of cancer, with recent figures from the US showing that it accounts for 4% of cancers in men and 7% of cancers in women.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that six out of ten American adults have at least one chronic disease, including cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. Furthermore, four out of ten American adults have at least two or more concurrent chronic diseases. Collectively, chronic diseases account for “the leading causes of death and disability and leading drivers of the nation’s $4.1 trillion in annual health care costs.”
